Tony Rickards is a seasoned Australian performer and veteran of numerous stage, TV and film appearances since 1970’s.
As an actor and comedian, Tony has played lead and support roles in the company of illustrious film names such as Oliver Reed, Jack Thompson, John Hargreaves, Greta Scacchi, Hugh Jackman and Magda Szubanski – to name a few. Recent feature film credits include The Menkoff Method, The Cup and Summer Coda. His TV credits include guest roles in Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Winners & Losers, Underbelly – Squizzy, The Mystery of a Hansom Cab. Tony played the role of Billy in Series 1, 2 & 3 of Tangle. His list of acting credits is long and varied including the Sleuth 101, Curtin,
Dirt Game and Bed Of Roses, and the Foxtel comedy Whatever Happened To That Guy with Peter Moon. His face is well recognised as the lovable fool Compo Hayes from Blue Heelers plus roles in everything from Kath & Kim to City Homicide. Theatre credits include the role of Barrett in Ray Mooney’s Every Night Every Night and recently in The Melbourne Theatre Company’s production of Cock which received excellent reviews.
Tony is also a specialist in character comedy, as well as an M.C and interviewer. He has entertained through many different guises and media, but probably gained most of his notoriety in comedy as the lovable fool, “Con Marasco“, of the infamous comedy radio program, “PUNTER TO PUNTER” which was on air from 1981 to 1990 and 1997-1998. You may also know him for his work as a tipster and interviewer for the Winning Post and the TV racing channel, TVN.
